Patriot's Pen - Voice of Democracy
VFW's Patriot's Pen & Voice of Democracy programs

On Sunday Dec. 8th 2013, VFW District 4 held it’s annual ‘Voice of Democracy’ and ‘Patriots Pen’ awards at VFW post 9400 in Phoenix (District 4 headquarters).

Representing Post 1760 was Faith Richards, President of the Ladies Auxiliary, and Bob Laubinger, post Chaplain. Post 1760 sponsored Amara Feyrer-Melk from Fort Mcdowell for the Patriots Pin and Adam Dearth from Mesa for the Voice of Democracy.

Ceremonies started at 3PM with a social hour. An excellent chicken dinner was served by The ladies from Post 9400. at 3:45 PM followed by the awards presentations. Each award consisted of four (4) forth place winners, one (1) third place winner, one (1) Second place winner, and one (1) first place winner.

Amara won a forth place award and received a certificate and a trophy. Adam won a forth place award and also received a certificate and a trophy. Third, second, and first place winners also received a certificate and a trophy as well as a check. In addition, first place winners were asked to read their entries.

The Post has voted to send each of our winners a check in the amount of $100.00. The Ladies Auxilliary is planning to ask our winners to attend the January auxiliary meeting where they will be presented with a check and will be asked to read their entries.
