With Jim’s passing, friends now came together to help get Jim’s affairs in order.
Chris and Mary had driven from No. Carolina to see Jim just before he died. They now stayed on to help with the massive job of sorting through all the paperwork and belongings. Chris Kelner took the legal issues upon himself (with Mary’s help). Mary tasked herself with taking charge of cleaning and straightening up Jim’s Sunrise Village trailer (no small job).

The aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) returned to homeport at Naval Station Norfolk, Va., for the last time Sunday Nov, 4, 2012 under its own power, ending a storied era of service at sea in all the nation’s wars and conflicts since the Cuban Missile Crisis 50 years ago.

An 80th Birthday Surprise for a Military Veteran

Tuesday afternoon Sept. 11, 2012, I received a call from Dean Paradise. He told me he was the son of a Korean war veteran, Richard Paradise, and asked if I could help his father (who lives near Los Angeles, Ca.) celebrate his 80th birthday on Sunday Sept. 16th by getting in touch with one of his dad’s Korean war buddies, Jim Lewallen, who lived in Mesa.
