Veteran Funeral Assistance

VFW Post 1760 offers veteran funeral assistance to those veterans and their families with veteran funeral services at the Post Hall. At the time of this writing there is no service charge for those veteran families in seek of a locale to conduct their ceremony. To learn more please visit our Post Hall page.

Currently Post 1760 does not have an active Honor Guard however, we do conduct the flag folding ceremony to be presented to a loved one when staff is available.

Additionally, our Post Chaplain can assist with a funeral service. Please visit the Chaplain's corner to contact him directly. VFW Post 1760 currently does not have the staff or resources to conduct Color Guard or Honor Guard duties.

The Veterans Administration offers a number of benefits to veterans and their spouses. Although a veteran may qualify for certain burial benefits, they are not automatic.

Important information you should know about VA burial benefits:

• Documentation of military service is required to secure benefits
• There are eligibility requirements for burial in the National Cemeteries and State Veterans Cemeteries
• Veteran families must request a U.S. flag
• Military honors must be scheduled in advance
• The Presidential Memorial Certificate must be requested
• Veteran family must request a headstone or marker for private cemetery burial
• Replacement or issuance of military service medals, awards and decorations must be made in writing
• The VA does not cover caskets, urns and some additional costs associated with funerals

When properly requested, the VA provides the following benefits to qualified veterans and their spouses:

• Outer burial container
• Cemetery lot
• Opening and closing of grave
• Headstone/Marker
• Perpetual grave care
