Getting Your Membership Card

VFW Post 1760 | MesaVFW.org

The process is different for both the VFW Membership and VFW Auxiliary Membership card processes. Technically these are two different organizations that get their members their cards in their own manner. We explain each process as follows:

Receiving Your New VFW Membership Card

VFW Life Membership card

Newly signed veterans with the Veterans of Foreign Wars are submitted to National Headquarters, either by applications through our VFW Post or directly to the VFW National website (here) and select from the drop down menu “Request a New Membership Card”. This applies to both annual membership or Lifetime membership.

For those new members applying through a VFW Post, membership attached to a VFW Post is first approved by the Post Quartermaster, who inspects the application for proof of combat service. The application then has to go through approval by the Post Membership.

For VFW Post 1760, those members being voted on transpire during our monthly membership meeting on the second Tuesday evening of each month. Once new members formally approved the application it is sent to the national VFW office. New members can look to receive their new VFW membership card in the mail 3-4 weeks after the national office receives the approved application . Membership cards are sent to new member’s home address unless other special arrangements are made.

New VFW Membership Transfers to Post 1760

For transferring members, no proof of combat service is required and the application form will require less information. Once the transfer application is submitted to the Post it will be brought before the monthly membership meeting and voted on for approval. If the application is approved, it will then be processed in the same manner as a new membership application and sent to the national office.

Transferring members can look to receive their new VFW membership card 3-4 weeks after the Post meeting approval. Membership cards are sent to new member’s home address unless other special arrangements have been made.
