This is a quick reminder about the Memorial Day Activities the last weekend of this month on Saturday May 28th and Monday May 30th. Remember that “Many hands make light work” and these are activities that are very important not just to use but to the community and the families of those that have passed that we are honoring. Please pass the word to your people, put it on your calendars, and lets see a GREAT turnout this year for ALL the events.
Saturday May 28th we will be mustering at 8am at the Main Mesa Cemetery Located at: Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center St. we will be placing flags on all the veterans graves.
Monday May 30th we will have our Memorial Day Massing of the Colors and Wreath laying Ceremony. This will begin at 10am and I want to make sure that EVERY organization bring their colors and wreath for the ceremony. The Young Marines will as they have for the past 11 years do the massing of the colors and escorting of the dignitaries and wreaths. This year the Naval Sea Cadets may join us and assist the Young Marines in their duties. We’ll also have City of Mesa Councilman Kevin Thompson, and a R.A.F. pilot veteran (yet to be announced) to speak at the ceremony.
Monday May 30th at 5pm we will muster again at the cemetery and retrieve all the flags we placed on Saturday and make sure that they get returned to American Legion Post 26.
We’re looking forward to seeing you all at these activities to honor and remember those that have gone before us and served this great nation of ours.
