Saturday, December 16th we had our annual Auxiliary Children’s Christmas party. Every year our Auxiliary puts this together for both the Membership and Auxiliary families to share time during the holiday season at the Post, and this year was again a fun and fantastic time for all of the 25 children and families that participated.
The Auxiliary Children’s Christmas party started at 11am and continued on through to 2pm. First there was food served with corn dogs, chips, juice and cup cakes followed by the children making Christmas cards for the troops, parents and loved ones with the enjoyment of Christmas music permeating through the hall. This along with arts & crafts and playtime. Soon after the children were given a visit by Santa Claus, who sat down and visited each of the children giving gifts.
Much appreciation and thanks goes out to our Auxiliary members who participated (in no particular order) during the event; Molly Watson, Katie Norton, Monica Collins, Robert “Uncle Bob” Ashley, Susan Lord, Maria Montiel from Auxiliary for VFW Post 3584, Robert Whipkey for his part with Santa, and the East Valley Young Marines. And to not forget for those who helped before the event in wrapping presents and decorations our Club Committee Chairman Matt Olsen, Charla McAleer, volunteer bartender Kristal Wagner, Carey Slade, and Tammy Chitwood.
From the membership and parents a big “Bravo Zulu” goes out to the Auxiliary for VFW Post 1760 who spent considerable time and energy putting the Auxiliary Children’s Christmas party together on a job well done, and we look forward to next year’s event!
