It’s with a sad and very heavy heart to advise we lost a very profound & long time member of Post 1760, and dear friend. Around 10pm on December 5th Israel “Izzy” Pacheco had passed away.
Izzy has been a cornerstone member for 26 years at Post 1760. Having held many offices at the Post and a member of the Veteran Warriors he leaves behind a lasting legacy for other Post membership to follow. He will be very much missed by the membership, Auxiliary and all those that knew him in the VFW organization.
A family memorial service of his cremated remains will be held this Saturday, December 16, 2017 @ 10am. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 20615 E. Ocotillo Rd., Queen Creek, AZ 85142. There will be no viewing, just a Catholic Mass.
Israel “Izzy” Pacheco bio:
Izzy was born in Roswell, New Mexico in 1948 and is a graduate of Roswell High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps, and was sent to boot camp in San Diego MCRD.
In 1968 Izzy was sent to Vietnam, and was proudly assigned to the 3rd batallion, 26 Marines where they took part in the Tet Offensive. There their battalion received one of several PUC citations. Izzy continued to serve in Vietnam that year, and later honorably discharged in 1969. Thereafter he attended and received a BS from New Mexico State University in 1973.
Izzy has been involved with the VFW organization since 1991. He has served as Chaplain, Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander, and as Quartermaster. Additionally Izzy has also served as canteen committee chairman, service officer, and in various other committees as directed by Post 1760 commanders.
